The Secretary of Homeland Security has cancelled the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation for Nepal. Termination has been delayed by one year. Thus, TPS will cease to exist for citizens of Nepal on June 24, 2019.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has extended Temporary Protected Status for citizens of Nepal for an additional 18 months, effective December 25, 2016.

On June 24, 2015, The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the designation of Nepal for TPS and that eligible Nepalese nationals (and people without nationality who last habitually resided in Nepal) residing in the United States may apply for TPS.
